**Definitions:**

**Megapascal** (abbreviations: **Mpa, or MN/m2, or N/mm2**): is the SI derived unit of pressure used to quantify internal pressure, stress, Young's modulus and ultimate tensile strength. It is one meganewton per square meter or one newton per square millimeter. It is named after the French polymath Blaise Pascal.

**Kilopound Per Square Inch** (abbreviations: **ksi, or kips/in2**): is a unit of pressure or of stress based on avoirdupois units. It is the pressure resulting from a force of one kilopound-force applied to an area of one square inch.

## How to Convert Megapascals to Kilopounds Per Square Inches

*Example: How many kilopounds per square inches are equivalent to 5.87 megapascals?*

As;

1 megapascals = 0.145038 kilopounds per square inches

5.87 megapascals = Y kilopounds per square inches

Assuming Y is the answer, and by criss-cross principle;

Y equals 5.87 times 0.145038 over 1

(i.e.) Y = 5.87 * 0.145038 / 1 = 0.85137306 kilopounds per square inches

Answer is: 0.85137306 kilopounds per square inches are equivalent to 5.87 megapascals.
